Accessibility Statement

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or with motion reduced.

The standard we aim at

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We describe this as "partially conformant": most of the site meets the standard, and we have not had it independently audited, so we are not going to claim more than we can show.

What this site does

• Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is visible against the dark background.
• A skip link jumps past the header straight to the main content.
• Body and interface text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background; large display text meets 3:1.
• The decorative clip behind the heading on the home page is muted, has no sound, and is replaced by a still image for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion. It carries no information, so nothing is lost when it does not play.
• Headings run in order, landmarks are marked up, and the page works at 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
• Text is real text, not pictures of text.

Known limitations

• The site has not been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. Our testing has been with keyboard navigation, zoom, and reduced-motion settings.
• Pages on other sites we link to — app stores in particular — are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
• Our apps are assessed separately from this website. Accessibility feedback about an app is very welcome and goes to the same address.
